Web 2 Investigation Log

I'll use this blog to interact with Web 2 course management.
I've used the opportunity to learn about blogging to set up a useful information site regarding my equine hobby.
I can't see an immediate use with my students at present; not enough access to computers or literate students. I would need to give lots of direction to my students with Special Needs as they're not independent learners.
I can see lots of usefulness in encouraging them to utilise the web at home, but I will need to learn lots more, yet, about monitoring their productions!

  1. Fascinating to learn some of the history of the competitive development of Web2 as Google outperformed Netscape! Consideration of the extent to which one would want to allow unrestricted anonymous access to a blog brings to mind the consideration of ownership of ideas, photos etcetera. The concept of "harnessing collective intelligence" to utilize the power of linking material online through hyperlinks has spawned Wikipedia. It has certainly shortened the process of producing such a huge compendium, in contrast to the time taken to produce and revise the Oxford Dictionary, for instance.
Interesting, too, that such a process is in large part self-corrective, as the volume of collaberators would tend to self-correct material posted. Admirable that Google monitors and filters spam continuously in the interests of maintaining the usefulness of its services and introduces new tools/software regularly...and discards these if they are not utilised by users.
I'm toying with the idea of how to use blogs to encourage reluctant readers, in senior secondary school, to respond to written material. Supervision of their product might be very onerous!
